I believe the oil pump may have failed, and then spun a rod bearing or locked something up in the rotating assembly throwing a rod through the block,is what it looks like to me.
This is basically what did happen...freakin oil pump...

My AP2 is coming down tomorrow... I'm hoping it should be fixed this weekend... and I'm only doing the engine... IT is totally brand new...

J, I doubt your motor will be installed and ready for you to drive this weekend. Sorry about that bit of news, but I am happy you got a good motor at a good price.

You're right, J. I was just thinking about how late Jeff will be arriving with it.

Stay away, let the boys work. With you there they'll just get distracted and forget something while re-assembling.

Good Luck.

Holy hell! All that damage from an oil pump. Sorry to hear that SweetJ. What did the AP2 engine end up costing, if you don't mind me asking.

Damn, I have 96k miles on my 01 and it's driven hard at autocrosses and has about 450 track miles.

I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to change my oil pump just to be on the safe side.

SweetJ, what did the oil pump look like, was it broken into several pices, did it just sieze or something else?

Warren

It would have had to have been something like that.

I hope this wasn't too costly for you J. If you're going AP2-powered I guess you'll have a...... ......2002.5?
Who knows what it will be called

I can't believe I gotta go through break in again and since I'm keeping my ECU I can't reset the mileage.... can I
