perhaps i am just THAT weak..but they are currently torqued to WAY over 15lbs...i was actually bending the tongs out on a Stanley wrench!

yup, i just used a 14mm combo wrench. Pliers didn't cut it. I had to use both hands and rock it to initially loosen the nuts.
