And you're just like a lot of us with regards to the changing-the-mind thing.
I took the very, very long road(read: expensive) to where I'm at now.

Again I understand the liablity issue the track is trying to overcome. What I do not understand is how someone can say the broomstick test is a joke.
Your head is either below the roll over protection or it is not. And if the only thing between your head and the ground in a violent rollover is a fiberglass or aluminum top you are also not protected. If you are above the installed rollbar and you put a hardtop on to satisfy the rule are you any more safe than if you had put the hardtop on a car with stock hoops? I am not sure about that.
I understand the need to satisfy the rules, but I am not sure people are as safe as they think they are.

When the broomstick test is done you're sitting in the car, rightside up. When the car lands upside down you're going to move in the seat, especially with stock harnesses. The roll bar's purpose is to keep you from being crushed, not keep your head from hitting the ground. Of course the more room you have the better, but the broomstick test is actually pretty arbitrary.
Retention of stock seatbelts also satisfies local/state inspections. IIRC, using harnesses in place of the original seat belts is against the law, just as is the removal of airbags.
Damn, seems like this will force me to finally get a bar.
From the pictures of the harddog it looks like if you get a hard dog and keep your int, then the harness bar will not at the proper height for a harness, but if you remove the int then the seat belts won't have a mounting point, right?
If I want to keep my car streetable but also safe for the track what are the options. There should really be a rollbar FAQ or something.
