Damn, seems like this will force me to finally get a bar.

From the pictures of the harddog it looks like if you get a hard dog and keep your int, then the harness bar will not at the proper height for a harness, but if you remove the int then the seat belts won't have a mounting point, right?

If I want to keep my car streetable but also safe for the track what are the options. There should really be a rollbar FAQ or something.
I believe Hard Dog will mount the harness bar lower if you ask them to. I'm not sure if you'd have to remove the glove box and secret compartment, or just the secret compartment.

I've no idea how low is low enough, or if the height of regular harness bar is still okay.

The window for proper harness anchoring at the harness bar is 0* to 15* BELOW your shoulders. That said, it is less"bad" to have the bar slightly above your shoulders(as is the case with interior pieces and softtop left in place) than it is to have the straps beyond the 15*. Spinal compression can occur with the latter.

Good to know. From the pictures it looks like hard dog with int and harness bar will be at least 45 degrees above, thats a bit extreme for my tastes.

It's definitely not that high.

Too "downward " and spinal compression is a real concern. Too high and you have the potential to slide upward a bit. Remember, harness straps stretch and can do so as much as 6". Because of this, you also would like to have the harness bar as close to the occupant as possible... and at the proper heighth.

The proper heighth will vary from one person to another because of bodies and seating heighth.

Those seats seem to be sitting rather low. As I'm seeing that picture, yes, this ish is waaayy too high.

So if you slide upward and the harnesses stretches, you have the possibility of your head hitting the bar.

On the topic of stock seats, as Skip mentioned I've been running a Hard Dog roll bar, 6 point harnesses and stock seats. I did stock seat pan lowering mod and later added the lowering seat rail because of my tall seating height (almost disqualified me from flying fighters in the Air Force).

I run the inside shoulder harness through the stock seat headrest hole (have to remove screen). I run the outside harness between the end of the harness bar and the seat--it's trapped there and can't move. The inside shoulder harness does dig into my neck a little but if I pull my shirt up between the harness and my neck it's fine.

I have the sub belt connected to the lap belt bolts. I pull the sub belt up between the seat bottom and seat back. I sit on the belt as I get in the car then pull it up between my legs and fasten it. This setup will pass SCCA hpde tech.

Having said that I finally found a seat rail for the Sparco Evo I've had sitting in my basement since 1999 and plan to install it this week.
