SweetJ's Message to the Mid-A
I never stated I was stepping down. So I'm not sure what the whole talk about me not being CO is even about. I would appreciate who decided to just make up rules. I feel like I'm being punished for something that lasted a few weeks.
I don't think that with everything I have done that I should even be questioned.

This is/was my community and now I can't even voice my opinion when the majority of my friends were on this site

Sometimes, it's necessary for change to take place, in order to move forward. My name was mentioned in the other thread to come aboard as a new CO, but I'm not going to create a thread to campaign for the position. I personally don't think we need to campaign for sympathy or for any other reason for the CO position. I think it's whatever Mid-A wants to have as a CO in whole that it's going to benefit. Am I everyone's cup of tea? I doubt it. Just like you may not be everyone's cup of tea at the moment. There has been mention to myself and others concerning how the next CO should benefit this community, and what we can do to make this place a more enjoyable place. From what I gathered, you were not mentioned nor did you participate in these conversations. I think the current CO needs to be involved and participate in these conversations, to better the year 2006 than it was this year.
I'm not trying to pick a fight here in your thread because I don't think it's worth it. You will garner a lot of sympathy from this thread, and I don't feel like having to argue with a bunch of people because they are picking sides. My whole point in writing this is let you know and understand that while a lot of people are talking about you and what you have done this past year, it's not because they are intentionally trying to hurt you, but more in terms of making this community a better place than it is at this moment. Whether or not it's me, you, or someone else that is taking the new CO positions, it's whatever the Mid-A community chooses as a whole. Not one person deserves the CO position. It is not a right of passage because someone has been on the boards the longest, nor if their car is paid off or not, that they deserve the position. It's what the Mid-A community sees as a better Community Organizer that can keep this community together the best and what is in the best interest of the community.
I do consider you a friend Jerriana, but friends must tell friends the truth right? Now this is just my opinion and no one else's but I'm getting a "holyier than thou" attitude eminating from your posts. Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but not one person is better than the community. I've had my fair share of run in's with members on here, and I'm sure everyone knows it. I'm pretty opinionated, but I won't sit here and have someone in the position as CO that thinks they are mightier than the community as a whole. I've had discussions with Alex before about my opinions about him and how he ran this community, and we have always agreed to disagree. Do I hold ill will towards him? No, we just have different views on things and that's that. And I must do so with you. Your vision of CO for Mid-A lately has been lacking at best. Could it be improved upon? Of course, anything can. It's easier for us to sit here and "Monday night quarterback" everything you've done this past year than to actually be in your shoes. But lest you forget, it's what this community see's as a whole that makes the CO stand out.
I think I've written enough. I do hope you take my post constructively and not personally. This community should be close knit and we should be able to talk to each other if something arises that someone doesn't agree about. I hang out with some members on here on a daily basis and I do a lot of work on a lot of members cars every month, so I do keep in touch with many members, and we talk about things when topics about Mid-A arises. Does it show I care about Mid-A? Quite possibly. I am in here because it's fun to be here. When it stops being fun, then that's when I'll stop being in here. So let's try to make this place a little bit more enjoyable than it has been lately.
Okay, this has gone on for long enough. If you have a weak stomach or can't stand to be told how it is, you may want to skip over this post. I am going to try and bring this about as straight forward as I can with no sugarcoating.
I actually do have to agree with Jerianna a bit in this post. In the previous thread I took the time and the courage to stand up, to comment on what I've seen in the community during the 2005 year. Taking the time to state where I believed the community was heading under this leadership and how I personally feel we need to look towards new organizers. Through PM, AIM, and even in person I have had numerous individuals tell me that they are happy that I posted this and they do agree. Now Jerianna before you get all pissy on us, you should knwo that they did state that overall you are a good person. However they do agree that the Mid-Atlantic Community did not do so good this year and that we should look to new leaders for 2006, plural leaders.
You comment saying that "I don't think that with everything I have done that I should even be questioned." Can I ask what exactly you have done? You have convinced a co-worker to purchase an S2000, big deal - I think all of us have talked to friends about purchasing an S2000 and joining the forums. You have paid off your S2000, wow - that is an amazing accomplishment. So because you choose to pay off your vehicle versus modifying it that makes you a good leader? Or perhaps the fact that you have been a member for 4.5+ years and are well known that you deserve it. Sorry to say it, but SoCal4Life has only been on the forums for a short year and I'm pretty sure just as many people know about him. Does that make him worthy of the CO Title too?
The thing that makes someone worthy of the Community Organizer title is not the fact that you can lurk the boards with your light off, its not the fact that you can chime in from time to time with a
in the HAW Thread, its not the fact that you wish everyone a Happy Holiday.
The Community Organizer title is earned, through dedication, hard work, a love for the Mid-Atlantic Community. Its the ability to gather members, both new and old and get them together. Its the little things that make this community great, its about sending a text message or calling up a few of the local members and asking them to go to a movie or dinner on a Sunday night. Its about doing anything and everything you can to make sure the Community stays close as a whole - to make sure everyone feels welcome.
In your last post you did state that you are not sure what the whole talk is about you not being CO anymore. I have not been a member of S2Ki for as long as many other individuals on here, but from what I have learned is that a communities direction is up to the community. They choose who leads, thus in a sense they choose the fate. If you have done so much for this community, as you've clearly stated you have then when the Mid-Atlantic Community votes for our new leaders in the upcoming month you should have nothing to worry about. You shall retain your position as Community Organizer for the Mid-Atlantic Region and we shall have a great year of many well-planned events, both large and small.

Thanks to Peter and Salty for actually voicing ther opinions. I know I have done alot for the community and I'm not going to make a list here now. We all live in different places and don't know at all times what different areas are doing. I by no means would ever think that I'm high and mighty and above everyone else. I just wanted to see where this original talk came about. I'm not going to sit here and tell everyone what actually happened to me. I don't need sympathy or do I ask for it. For the people who actually PM or call me know what was going wrong. If you knew then you might actually understand why I did what I did. I know by far that I will succeed as a leaader some day. I'm very good at leading and keeping things together. Maybe this just isn't my place to be that person.
My main point was Alex and I are the two COs. No one including Alex notified me of what was even going on. This has been done to me quite a few times this year and I thought it was very disrespectful. So whoever does get these positions I hope you realize that you should actually coordinate with the other COs and let them know whats going on before you come in and there's all this talk and you had no idea what was going on. I would say the majority of you here have my phone number and not one person took the time to see what was wrong. I have made the majority of my friends on this site not just of the mid-A but alot of places in the country. I'm not saying I deserve this and now that this has turned out the way it is I'm not even sure if my opinion matters. I think I should deserve some credit for being the only woman here putting up with all the teasing and
that I've had to deal with. Salty you're one of them who has really not been very nice to me this year at all on the boards but whenever I see you in prson you're the nicest person to me. Its just funny that this is the only year where we are actually re-voting a CO that has been here for a year. Everyone has gotten to stay unless someone has decided to step down.
Peter the reason I reposted my paragraph was b/c Alex closed the thread right after. Most people probably wouldn't have even read it. I didn't take that long to write stuff down for no one to get to see where I was coming from. There's nothing wrong with me speaking up and trying to defend myself. But obviously it really doesn't matter. I'm not a woman that has to be babysat hence why I'm still here with all you men. With whatever happens I wish everyone the best I'm not not sure how I see this community anymore.
Regards,
Jerrianna

As someone who has teased more than my fair share.
I've been sitting on this fast reply screen for a good hour now. I've typed out whole posts and then deleted them, I've bounced back and forth between tons of PM's - PM's from numerous Mid-A members and PM's from sweetj. I've also been on the phone and AIM throughout the day with other people that I usually go to for advice. I feel like I'm stuck in the middle of something that is going to be a no-win situation any way it goes.
I don't want to see either happen. So I'm stuck, I can't turn my back on everyone and just say "I'm stepping down, to hell with it". I can't seem to find the solution because there are still people who think it is time for new blood in every Mid-A CO slot. I'm also worried that there will be some sort of rift in the Mid-A causing more/bigger issues down the road.
I also have a moral dilemma going on right now that has me even more stuck in the middle. Over the past month some things have been said in PM's that really bother me. Do I put these things out for the public so they can make their own decisions or do I keep them just as they are: "Personal Messages"?
If I knew where things were going to head when I announced I was stepping down I think I would have stayed on as a CO and worked to inspire instead of taking the road I took.

i am probably one of the least most involved people on this site but if there is anything that i could do to help anyone out on this i would, certainly including sweetj. she was really nice considering i walked up to her in the middle of the harbor center parking lot as she walking into fridays.
all,I am currently on vacation from S2Ki.com due to some flack that I took in another forum for trying to be a constructive member of the S2Ki.com community. But as I was lurking, I saw this thread and just wanted to say that I give Jerianna
As far as I can tell, being a C.O. is pretty much like being a COP. A damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. But in the end, someone needs to "keep law and order". I have known Sweet J since FCT2003 and I have no doubt that she has been an asset to the S2Ki community.
Thanks for doing what you do Jerianna.
Best regards,
Matt
^Based on what is said, I fully support everyone on this forum who give their time and effort trying to serve the Mid-A. We all have to remember that this is non-paying job that seems to require a great deal of time and personal commitment. I applaud everyone who has served and is serving in various capacities on this forum and would like to encourage all who are on this board to exercise tolerance and acceptance. We all have our own jobs and families but because of our shared interest and passion for S2K, we have been brought together. Though there maybe different perspectives on whatever the issue we are currently experiencing, I know that in the end, we are all trying to make our Mid-A community better. In that regard, I believe everyone who has taken time to input their thoughts should be encouraged while we should all temper our written expressions.
It is somewhat different when we see face to face and talk about things from simply putting words on this screen. No matter how hard we try, the written words seem a bit more detached and cold and can be mis-interpreted. I don't think anyone wanted to come across in that way but inadvertently, this may have happened.
SweetJ and Poindexter have been superb in their service to our community in Mid-A. And we have some fantastic folks who have gone out of their way to contribute to various activities. I have appreciated everyone's effort thus far and hope we can continue to build our community in the year 2006. Though I have not been able to participate other than the baseball game FFSKIP put together 2 years ago, I have always appreciated folks who are active on this board. I want to thank all of you for being part of Mid-A.

The way people are voicing their opinions you would think this is a paying position...
I know that if some of the people who "want" to be C.O. on this site become just that I will stop participating all together...
I just dont understand what the big problem is....
