SweetJ's Message to the Mid-A

I also have a moral dilemma going on right now that has me even more stuck in the middle. Over the past month some things have been said in PM's that really bother me. Do I put these things out for the public so they can make their own decisions or do I keep them just as they are: "Personal Messages"?
I agree with Peter. Let it out, Alex. If it is direct communications with SweetJ, the give her the courtesy of asking permission to make the PM's public. Based on what I see in these messages, something does not add up.
The best way to confront these issues and move on is to get them out in the open. People's feelings may get hurt in the process. People may choose not to participate in Mid A anymore. If this a matter concerning the direction and harmony within MID A for the next years, I think is better to lay the issues on the table rather than to let them fester and get worse.
Perhaps a "face to face" is in order between the COs to clear the air?
Alex/J,
In the minds of some you're both going to come out looking bad. That's not fair to either one of you.

I absolutely do NOT agree about posting PMs. There is a reason they are called private messages. All trust will be lost if a member doesn't feel confident his/her communications will remain private. Unless the person sending the message gives permission to post the message(s). As for this thread, I'm not sure it is accomplishing anything more at this point. Why don't we just close it and the post the nominations. If the people nominated want to post something about themselves in that thread, then great. Let's vote and move on. We are not helping the community by dragging out the process.
I'll chime in here ever so briefly...
First off, all of this is unfortunate. No one (NO ONE) deserves to feel like a bad person in the midst of what can only be defined as the utmost in web-based drama presently on s2ki.com.
There are, as I see it, a few facts to be appreciated (regardless of feelings):

There are, as I see it, a few facts to be appreciated (regardless of feelings):
- Alex is stepping down as CO of Mid-A (SOVA-ish area).
- Numbers from a current poll seems to be strongly reflecting a desire for 3 regional COs for the Mid-A community. One for MD, one for NOVA, and one for SOVA.
- There has been somewhat recently, and without public expression or pre-ambled explanation by her (until now), a personal need for Jerrianna to push away from her CO duties. Without having offered the Mid-A community a heads up to a need to step away, catch a breath, deal with a personal issue(s), etc., it has left some number of members feeling that the position was abandoned. With that, came hurt feelings from both "sides" ('sides' being those that couldn't understand why J stepped away without explanation, and those that were not troubled by a lack of explanation and/or weren't aware of her having stepped back).
- Oh..and another vote for keeping PMs Private. Alex, I appreciate there are a LOT of PMs being thrown at you and that the context within them is often not being publicly aired. Stop fretting over all of this and don't feel in some way that you have to vendicate yourself either. If those folks truly wanted to voice their opinions, they would do so publicly...rather than privately. There is a difference, and regardless of the source of the PM, the fact remains that such communications were sent in confidence. All you should perhaps do is [personally] weigh what has been said to you in private vs public...and appreciate that such actions speak volumes as to the character of the source(s). Leave the PMs private...and you'll be better off for it, I promise.

So what of these facts? Well, I say, simply move on with nominations for all three regional positions.
I have faith in our community members that we can and will move on in a positive manner, and that excellent Community Organizers will help lead that spirit forward.

Wow, I had no idea any of this was going down due to other demands on my time I am often MIA for periods of time on S2Ki.
With regards to the PMs, I can see both sides. On one hand it would perhaps serve to "clear the air," but on the other it sets a dangerous precedent. In addition, since Alex would never share a PM without the author's consent, anyone who refuses to have theirs released would seem like they have all that much more to "hide." My suggestion would be to avoid that mess all together and eliminate it as an option.
I am not informed enough on the issues at hand, nor active enough in the community to make a statement on J's overall performance as CO. I can however speak to the fact that she is a friend of mine and I have valued the contributions I have witnessed from her to the community.
Ultimately, this looks to me like a whole bunch of the "board drama" that seems to stir up every once in a while on internet forums.
Personally, I would think that if someone wanted to organize more events, do things that would better the community, just do it. If you truly only desire to help the community out, and are not focused on some infantile internet power struggle (is this silly title worth that much to some people that they would create a situation in which any other member's feelings are hurt or that divisions are created between members????) do so and the title will eventually be bestowed upon you as everyone will recognize the work you have done
PS> J, Alex, Dave, and other previous CO's don't take offense at my "silly title" remark
I fully appreciate all you do and have done, it is just an attempt to put this thing in perspective
