Actually im glad you brought up a new point (instead of just brakes) about tracking. As long as it's track related keep the info going.

I'm taking more of a "safety first" approach. That seems to be the more expensive part of it anyway.

I'll worry about the upgrades after 1) I don't end up dead and 2) I max out the OEM stuff (or break it ).

I'd like to hear some others chime in about the whole roll bar deal...

We all know it sucks to install one of these in our cars. All the hacking and tearing ain't so good...

BUT, I do not want to shell out the cash just so I can get on the track. I want it to be functional and, above all, safe.

I am hearing rumors that the Cusco bars are not SCCA compliant because of the bent down bars... I am, however, okay with that so long as the Cusco is still functional. I am particularly attracted to it because of the minimal hacking involved. I plan on doing 99% of my driving at Summit Point anyway... I think I can dodge the SCCA events and still have fun. I guess I am looking for the best of both worlds.

Will the Cusco get me there??? I'd like to hear from some of pro's on here... Keith? John? Cale?

George... You have one... Do you still feel safe?

Jeff, since you don't want to spend a lot of money, nix the rollbar idea completely. You mention that you want to be safe? As tall as you are, there is no way you should even think about running a rollbar without harnesses. To do that properly, you'd need aftermarket seats.

As for the CC bar, I wouldn't worry that it's not SCCA approved. HPDE days and NASA currently accept it. It's still better than nothing. Keith barrel-rolled his S2000 and walked away and he had no rollbar or hardtop. If you decide you have to have a rollbar, buy George's setup. Harnesses, buckets, bar: done.

Thanks for your comments, Skip... Much appreciated!

I know my seated position in the car is going to be an issue and I do intend to get the seats and the harnesses...

Please also understand that I am NOT intending to do any of the safety equipment on the cheap. Yes, it will take me some time to get the cash and get the stuff together, but I am okay with that. I'm in no hurry to get it done.

I know I frequently B&M about the costs of stuff. This is because I am a cheap SOB not because I am unwilling to spend the money to do it right. I sincerely regret the fact that I have left you with this opinion of me...

I feel perfectly safe with the factory roll hoops. It's the tracks that don't like them.

I look at it this way:

1) S2000's built to crush in an accident and I haven't re-enforced the chassis with a cage which means I haven't compromised it's ability to crush and absorb impact.

2) S2000 has airbags AND auto-retraction on the seat belts.

3) S2000 has factory roll hoops.

4) I'm not doing head to head racing.

I am planning on getting the taitec seat rails though to set me lower in the car with my sparco seat. Wife hates track seats so, I'll swap it for track days.

Jeff..... If you want to track your car you need to take your stock car, and go to the track. Dont do anything, just go to the track. Thats my advice.

I had money to spend when I first started tracking... but seriously, how do you know what to do to your car until you actually drive it... and fix what you think is lacking in the car.

I completely agree with you, Cale... To a point...

I am not looking to modify my car to make me faster/better. I just want to be safe, that's all...

I'll save the speed modifications for later.
