Change?
The new administration:
1. Appoints a Treasury Secty who did not fully pay his taxes, and did not pay all that he owed the first time they told him he underpaid.
2. Appoints commerce secretary who did not report all his taxable income and did not pay full taxes for four years.
3. Issues an edict to close the revolving door of government workers becoming lobbyists and lobbyists coming into government. Today, the deputy secretary of the treasury is a former lobbyist.
4. Promises transparency, then when a member of the press corps asks a question when Obama stops by to say hi, Obama says he won't stop by anymore if he is going to get "grilled."
5. Announces we need a stimulus bill right away to get Americans back to work, then:
i) crafts a bill with Pelosi that is a) filled with money for social welfare that won't stimulate anything, b) does not have enough for infrastructure, science and research, and c) has almost nothing to encourage investment in corporate growth.
ii) calls for bi-partisanship, but can't get a single Republican vote AND 12 Democrats vote against the bill.
iii) produces a 680 page bill that will cost over $820B WE DON'T HAVE to MAYBE create 3 to 4 million jobs that won't generate anywhere near enough tax dollars to pay the debt.
1-4 sounds like NO CHANGE. 5 is change we can't afford!
If all the social issues that have been stuffed into this bill are worthwhile, they should be submitted on their own, and not glued on to an anemic stimulus package that does not do enough to stimulate. Call the White House, your senator and congressman and ask them to pull out the pork, put in real programs to stimulate and stop being stupid. Let's see some CHANGE in this bill.

Even more lobyists hired where Obama said they did not belong. He started issuing "exemptions" in order to hire who he wanted. Man, didn't take him long to dig into going back on campaign promises.

1) tim geitner paid taxes he did not break the law - and remember this is different than you and i paying taxes - he was required to pay the employer portion when he worked at the IMF - furthermore he even paid back taxes even though the statue of limitations had pasted - wonder if any of us would do that
2) don't know enough to respond yet
3) at least he is talking to the press
4) the social aspect is so small it makes no difference - and from what i know there are only 2 - some $$$ for the arts and some for STD education - but we both know the fundamental difference between democrats and republicans - trickle down vs trickle up. as for corporate growth - please explain what the first 350 BILLION did to help - because no one has seen it
Tax cuts do not stimulate as much as spending because one could save / invest in foreign companies whereas government spending will go straight into the economy

Out of $850B, there is only $426 million in small business loans.
But hey, there is $650 million for Digital-to-Analog Converter Box Program. God forbid people don't get digital TV.
