Let them pay for TV like the rest of us. Or, they can listen to the radio.

come on dave - we both know the government mandated the digital conversion - this will mean all those TVs bought years ago will become obsolete plus they (the goverment) will soon sell the analog bandwidth to other companies

over the air TV has always been Free - so you are now saying people should be forced to

Gov't also mandated the switch from leaded to unleaded gas. Did the gov't subsidize the purchase of cars?

don't know BUT didn't take 15 years before leaded was removed from the market in the USA

by then most leaded cars went to the junk yard

Maybe he is just saying the money should come from somewhere other than the fund that is designed to stimulate the economy. I don't see how a bunch of old ladys watching Days of Our Lives on their rabbit ears stimulates anything but their bowel movements.
i don't know how the money will be spent - is it for education? Then the government will buy commercials - that will stimulate the economy is it to subsidize the boxes? that too will stimulate the economy ie people buying these boxes

jeff do you suggest we just dump 850 billion back into businesses who did northing with the orig tarp payout? - heck all the infrastructure project should stimulate you

Personally, I think they should set up a plan to give huge ammounts to everyone who paid taxes last year. The ammount given could be determined by how much you made or paid in taxes.

Lets say they gave each head of houshold $30k or something. Folks would pay their bills, aleviating the credit crisis. Then they would go out and spend on new stuff and new houses. Economy fixed.

heck, I'm gonna run for president in 2011 on that platform
