The AP2 is in the shop. I have a friend that is a manager that works there and he told me what the estimate shows already, and some things got me concerned. The insurance told the shop to get a refurbished rim not a rims striaght form Honda. There is couple of other things that the insurance adjuster is telling the shop to do that just does not sit right with me. I wanted to know if anyone here knows anyone that works for American Family Insurance. If it was just a regular car than it wouldnt be such a big issue, but its not. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Sorry didnt mention that they are checking the cars frame to see if anything was tweeked.

 

check your insurance policy there should be a section regarding if they can or cant use used/referbished parts. Typically there is for "old" cars but for newer cars they should be using new parts. If you cant find it in your policy then call your agent.

alternatly, they cant replace a part with one that is in worse shape then the original.... so you could talk to the body shop and see if they will "reject" the referb wheel as being in not as good condition as the wheel it was replacing (pre accedent of course). (its somehting my dads place does regularly when insurance co's try to push used parts on relitivly new cars).

 

you will have to call your agent and get livid. their main purpose in life is to save the company's money. if they think they can pull one over on you, they WILL. don't be passive, it's ok to get pissed and play games. they do it all the time.

The important thing to remember here... the Insurance company does not own your car. YOU DO. and as such you get to make the final decisions regarding what happens to the car (with in the restraints of your policy)

 

thanks so much Im going to check the policy book, then talk to the shop that the car is at about the parts thats going on the car.. And Zzyzx what shop does your dad own I would of sent it to him if its in Vegas. Thanks again for the help.
