You don't buy a broken one. You buy one that works.

Cheapest one I saw was $1200 and that was out of a car that had 100k+ miles
on it.

So what happens if I buy one at a junkyard and 500 miles later it croaks?

How much does it cost to just rebuild the one I have so that I won't have to
play russian roulette with some other transmission?

That's a good point Ray...I mean the car is in great shape and runs
excellent except for the tranny. It just had new pads and rotors
installed all around.

But is it not worth sinking 2k+ into the tranny?

So Erick are you saying it's not worth fixing?

FYI, it has 153,000 miles on it. Timing belt has been done and as I said before
I just did brand new brakes all around along with water pump and that one big
serpentine belt that drives everything.

I'm saying fixing it is still a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Your car is prob worth at least $5k with a working tranny.
