Downshifted From 6th to 5th
ah ok gotcha. I'm just not sure what the cutoff is to just scrap the
car rather than pumping more money into a 10 year old car.
But it is a Honda and I think if I fixed the tranny it would run another
200k miles.

If you decide to scrap the Accord, I'll happily pay scrap value for it. Then... I'll either replace the tranny or have it rebuilt and make a few thousand dollars selling it.

Varies for everyone. Some people feel it's time for a new car the first time they need to replace an air filter. I tend to drive a car until it's worth nearly nothing.

"new" car. This is just the first time that I've ever had a car where I had to
make a decision on spending $$$$$ on transmission work.
I've had cars that I bought new and drove for over 350,000 miles before
selling them. And that was a Chrysler product believe it or not.
I admit I know nothing about this type of thing but given that I just
looked at '98 Accord transmissions and they started at 1200 for one
with 100k+ miles, 700 for one with 60k miles shipped seems way low.
