Default Getting the itch already

I'm not necessarily regretting selling my S2000... and I havnt seriously started to look for another, but Im getting the itch that I want one again. I loved my last one, and its been by far the most enjoyable car, and community ive been a part of. Id really like to get ahold of another 02-03 AP1 for spring, but it doesnt seem like the market is very good now for buyers, despite winter coming up.

just my random thoughts out loud

For some reason I was looking at late model MR2's last night. With a hardtop and full body kit and a turbo they're not a bad looking car. So you know, only about 10k later...

I started a thread over in S2000 talk about what sports car woul you buy if you were replacing the S. The short answer seems to be another S. Nothing like it for the price.

Tim, you drove ours back in the Somerset days. You knew you wanted an S and bought one. Sounds a bit like you do have seller's remorse, but that's OK, there are S2000's out there for sale. Hope you find another one.

I took a look at Bill's thread. Lots of folks would stick with the S. It's still the best bang for the buck.

Our 04 has 60K+ on it. Rick takes great care of it, but I'm sure it will get tired at some point. If a newer model with low miles becomes available, and finances allow it, we would certainly consider replacing the S with another S.

We'll have to do our best to keep an S for the next 6 or 7 years. The granddaughter is asking if she can have it when she starts driving.

That's for sure. I find it amusing when I tell people the basic stats, and they're left thinking "Yeah, that's exactly what a sports car should be." Heck, just the combination of RWD/Roadster/6 speed manual only/limited slip diff is hard to find at any price.

I even had a shirtless, leather-skinned old guy on a bicycle pull up next to me when I was at a stop light say "Hey, a Honda S2000! Man, that's a real sports car..." We chatted for 30 seconds before the green light.

The reality is, there just isn't anything like it. Sure, a Mazda MX-5 is a great car, but it just lacks the "exciting" level of power, and isn't as light as it used to be.

Really, as far as small roadsters go, it's one of the few cars made recently that made no real compromises. No automatic slushboxes, no borrowing an engine from the economy car line, none of that cheap 'electronic traction control' for the rear diff, and no designed-in understeer or softened suspension found in other "sporty" looking cars. (well, not on my '00 AP1, anyways...)

I just have to hope I don't have to replace it. )

Im taking a look at a coupler cheaper S2000's right now. Theres one in TN for 4,000 with some front end damage. Im considering picking it up and fixing it up for spring. I was originally searching for my first house, but it isnt going exactly as I planned ( financing troubles ) so im shifting gears into cars again lol.

I think you guys already know my passion for my S. I'm lousy about keeping it clean (I guess that's an understatement), but that has no bearing on how I feel about the car. I've NEVER had, driven, or ridden in another car that even comes close to fitting everything that I love about driving and sports cars into one package like the S. My only true concern, now, is that the model is out of production and I'm concerned about keeping it going indefinitely. The S was built almost telepathically by Honda reading my thoughts it seems, and while it has "flaws" by others' definitions there's just nothing else that can touch it (for me).
