Help with car not starting
Hi all,
Today I had a great drive with my S2000, then decided to use some gunk engine cleaner on the family Mistubishi Montero Sport. Followed directions, and then my wife took it for a drive for about 10 miles. Now is is sitting in the driveway with no start, no lights, no nothing. obviously, some water got where it shouldn't have . Any suggestions on what to look for? No lights, no wipers, no click when you turn the key, no nothing. Just a dead car.
I am a very novice mechanic, but any suggestions I will try to act on tomorrow.
Thanks
Ken

well I'd start with disconnecting the battery and put a a voltmeter across the terminals. you should see ~12 volts+ a little.
sometimes a coincidence is just a coincidence, you're battery may have died.
is there a master fuse assembly somewhere? if so you may have popped one.

Yeah, I'd start by pulling the battery, making sure it's clean, and then putting it on a charger... although no lights or anything sounds more like a fuse than a (suddenly) dead battery.
Maybe you shorted the battery with water?

Assuming things were working before you washed it, it is almost impossible to drain a battery with just water.
As current ran through it, the water would hydrolyze and evaporate off. There is an awful lot of current to discharge.
That's why I think a fuse or sensor.
