Default Hey Scott

Scott,

Think you can figure out how to install an aftermarket Sirius radio in the '06 3 series and use the in-car fibre optic system AND get the Sirius to work and display with the stock head unit???

The dealers charge about $600 to install the BMW proprietary Sirius radio into cars that are already wired for Sirius. Check out my thread on Bimmerfest and the two links attached to one of the posts at the bottom of the thread. One of the linked posts include the pages from the BMW manual on installation.

Note that the car needs to be re-coded after the install. Note also that the BMW Sirius radio is made especially for BMW.

Most owners plan to have the dealer do it because a) there is no current aftermarket option and b) even if they bought a BMW head unit and installed it themselves, they can't recode the car.

BMW has everyone locked in if you want to go through the BMW head unit.

We are going to SEMA in November. If you can hold out a bit I will look for a adapter harness .
