Steve,
I think that Luke is on the right path. I had a similar problem (on a different car) and it was the brake light switch behind the pedal. Apparently the water migrated through the firewall, over the harness and down the pedal arm.

If you are more than just a few miles from work, buy the AAA Plus membership, otherwise they only allow a couple miles for towing.

Sound like a alternator , Reg might be gone .

My civic did this when I lost a alternator at 3am . First I lost the speedo then the foglights . We were joking about it as the car only had 20k on it till it died in the middle of no where at 3am . I was not funny anymore .

I would check the large fuses under the hood first . Whats weird is your gauge is reading 14vt which normally means everything should be ok . But the Gauge can only read volts and not amps . Amps is whats need to keep everything running . You need to stop by a Autozone or something and have them do a load test on it .

Sound like you killed the alternator . Might just be wet , but you would think it would have dried out on the way to work .

If you try the WD make sure it is has a little time to air out . If the brushes arc in the alternator it will ignite

I'm guessing the alternator didn't like PS fluid.
