Default Small paint chips

While washing my S this morning I noticed a lot, WAY too many tiny chips in the paint on and around the front of my car. (Mainly on the hood)

I am a bit concerned. Any advice on protecting against getting more of these? Im not sure what, if anything to do about the chips already there.

to fix the chips you can put touch up paint on it, and put a clear coat (like touch up paint only clear) .. or you can take it to a body shop if they are bad chips, and have them resray the front end( i dont think its nessecary(sp) to take it to the shop just yet )
to protect it in the future, consider getting a clear bra or a regular bra for the front end of the car
clear is a little expensive to have installed though, if thats a concern...

Welcome to NFR ownership.

The paint is very thin and easy to chip . I do have more of a explanation but I will save it for when we are able to chat . If you going to the rally remind me.

I was thinking about going to the rally until the date was set. Im getting married on the 28th so I dont think the wife will be up for a car rally. Neither will I for that matter.

As far as using touch up paint, the chips are so small, and there are so many of them I didnt see that as a good approach.

There's a franchise that does Chip & Scratch repair
called Aerocolours. At Fall Colors '03 they had a tent set-up.
Looks like the only franchise in the NE is in Fairfield, CT.
I personally didn't get it done, but the results looked good
on the cars that did get it done.
When I get a few more divots, I'll probably use them.

I remember CHIX RULE getting her NFR repaired at Fall Colors.
Maybe she'll chime in with her experience with Aerocolours.
I remember at first it looks funky with polka dotted airbrushed spots,
but once it was all buffed out, you couldn't see where the chips were.

Good Luck!

Congrats on getting married

I think the cans dragging behind the car at the rally would get alittle noisy

Okay, you're excused. Now what about the rest of you? If youre not getting married, you should be at the Rally. Scott will be there giving paint advice. That's good enough reason to come all by itself, right Scott?

I am going to research these Aerocolours people and see if it's worth doing. 1Quick1 suggested I contact the dealerships in the area se if they use them. I have a friend who works at one of the dealerships so I have a call into him. Though I might just call the place and as if he does the dealerships in the area. Then call to verify that they do!

Thanks!
