Default eBay Selling

I finally sold something on eBay for $10 (plus $5 shipping) and eBay wants $3.90 out of the $10! What the F-k is that?!?! What am I missing here?

That's why most sellers over charge for shipping to make up for the ebay charge.

It's nuts, between the seller fees and paypal 12.5-15% is about the norm. My wife sells to supplement her income, she's paid into the thousands of dollars in fees for the year. eBay gets worse and worse for their sellers too, even as a power seller any dispute disrupts her business for months. I'm waiting for Google, FB, anyone to challenge them and give us an alternative.

ebay charges a 9% final value fee, including shipping. paypal takes out 3.5% + 30 cents. it's a lot and that is why ebay has been losing customers.

I thought it was 9% final value, then an extra 5% off the shipping, Either way not what it used to be.

nope, its 9% on everything. they didnt like people charging $1 for an item and $500 for shipping just to save on fees.

Yeah ebay sucks with fee's! I was selling my shift knobs and stuff on there and had to charge so much extra for shipping than on my site it was ridiculous. $100 shift knob I had $14 taken out before Paypal fee's. Also had listing fee's for pictures an all. I stopped selling on there as well. Such a joke those rates.

People used to price stuff for cheap by setting high shipping prices to get around the ebay fees. Now eBay has separate fees for the item price and shipping price to stop sellers with high shipping prices. I hate ebay, but I love them at the same time.
