Thought I'd share this article on who fought harder for victory at the British Grand Prix between Nigel Mansell and Lewis Hamilton. Lewis just equaled Nige's record of 4 British GP victories

It's hard to appreciate a modern, pretty-boy F1 driver equaling a great from the past on the record books. F1 is long past the era of a driver being killed every six or seven races because they're driving manual turbo V12s with no mechanical grip nor traction control.
Today, whoever happens to have a seat in the fastest car wins the race, if you can call it that. Way, way too many parades up front as the pitwall monitors tire pressure solemnly to three decimal points and some playboy paddle shifts his way to parc fermé. Just look at McLaren to see how large the disparity has become between equipment and driving skill on race influence.
May as well be comparing baseballs records with wooden and aluminum bats.

Agree 100%
Passion trumped common sense back in the day. The aura of death permeated the whole scene at the races, at least at WGI. The partying was harder and more extreme, and the pits more accessible
The crowd was silent and the upstate NY fall foliage was incredible as the loudspeakers played the French National anthem for Francois Cevert.
Then the screaming banshee sounds could be heard from the pits...

Lewis has a shot at being the driver with the most wins in Hungary this weekend. I'm sure he will be hungering for the win at the Hungaroring on Sunday

Same here. There are those moments when he is brilliant and others when he isn't a sport. But I guess some of the legends were like that too. Mansell also had plenty of drama is what I've read.

New radio rules from the FIA. Drivers must return to pits or retire car if there is trouble. Teams can't instruct like Nico was instructed at the last race
