Brake Pads, Alignment, trans/diff whine

The rear axle nut makes a clicking noise, not a whine. Fluid won't help the sound. Get the car in the air and find out where it's coming from. It's not uncommon in the diff over time. The 04-05 secondary transmissions are the years that experienced problems in the secondary shafts. If I had to put money on it id bet the diff.

You're up there in the Albany Area? If so what I would do contact Jake or Semir and ask them if they could get your car up on Jake's lift for some diagnostic work. jsenclosure and ds50r. They've responded here to this thread. I'm sure that they will charge you, but they will be fair. This is not their living, just a hobby and it's only fair that you be willing to compensate them for their time and expertise, let alone the lift.
If it is your differential, you can then confabulate with them or consider sending it to S2KPUDDYDAD - I think he has a reputation like Billman when it comes to differential rebuilds. This guy. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/florida-...oducts-558914/ If it's your transmission or something else, I think Jake or Semir can guide you. Pretty good resource right there, so save yourself the woe and trouble of the chase down and at least ask them.
My 2 cents.

For spirited street driving, autocross and a rare track day, factory pads are more than enough.
All the other pads are great but will squeal and dust a lot. Take it from a guy that drove Mid-Ohio, Lime Rock and NHMS on the factory pads before upgrading. Once you get faster you'll know it's time to step up to the next level. But if you are only doing 1 or 2 events a year, run with OEM.

If it is the diff, a used one will be considerable cheaper than a built one. But a built one shouldn't ever have a problem so that's something to consider. You can usually find a used one for 4-500. I know a guy in NE PA who has one for 350 right now. Where are you located?

Bill - if you see this, then you know the kind of work Jake does. Reach out to him if you need help.
