i had that choice a while too, if youre working seriously take a year off. its an amazing break then i went back to community cause i pay for my own school and im transferring after my next year. if you dont like community college at least youll have a 2 year degree and will ahve spent less than what some pay in a semester

this way you can enter as an officer

Being an officer in the military makes a world of difference compared to being enlisted. I worked with all the services in Iraq and I agree with Chad and say that the Air Force has it pretty good. But, their requirements are much higher. Send me a PM if you would like. I used to be a recruiter so I can tell you the in's and out's and see what's best for you.

Hey Dave what about an old dog like me? Can I still join? I want to be in when WWIII starts. Can I get into the Army War College and do strategy?

I'll entertain your request Mike. You have to be 39 to join and only officers are allowed to go to the Army War College

college is overrated.

do your thing though man. if school isn't for you, don't be afraid to dive into a trade or the military! good luck!
I 100% agree, however unless you either really good professional networking contacts you're not going to find a job thats going to pay you anything worth while.

We've already spoke about the civil service tests. Ok being a garbage guy for $30k isn't terrible money but then who wants to be a garbage man forever and who's living off of $30k/yr?

I highly doubt it'll give you want you want out of life.

College gets my vote

I am horrible at school. my average is a 72.I even failed the college test so now i have to pay $1500 (if i go) .ever since i was a kid i wanted to go in the milatary and protect my country. i just dont think college would be the best for me
You failed the SAT? Is that even possible?

Go to college. There's a college for everyone. Find something that you're passionate about and see whether it makes real world sense. Fact of the matter is, when your parents are not around to help you, you need to survive.

The military isn't for everyone. Good luck.

If I could do it over go to college first, then have the option to choose officer or civilian career, and yes there is a world of a diffrence btw officer and enlisted ( I rather be the one to fly the jet then the one to fix it)

I took some time off from college and went to work. I have learnt so much over the past few years that i wouldn't have, if i had just finished school. What all my time in the work force has taught me though, is that i need the undergraduate and graduate degree to get to the places i want to be. DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL IF you don't really want to. Don't amass debt for something that you only will do half assed. Think of the things you want to do in your life and if they are things that need the stupid piece of paper, then do it.
