If I, and millions of other young people, find celebrity antics entertaining, who are you to tell me its not? Go watch ESPN if you enjoy that. I dont enjoy sports, or care about them, but I understand that they are culturally important, and people of certain groups enjoy them.
You make a valid point there.

I suspect one day you will look back on some of the celebrity antics you followed and realize that they didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Other than this thread, my wife, friends, and I finished talking about the Kanye thing about 5 minutes after we saw the story and watched the video yesterday morning.

my turn to chime in on this. if millions are sold then that has to mean something other than what you are implying. so bc the beatles sold millions of records, than everyone who bought those millions of records are stupid as shit? i know kanye does not compare to them (my opinion) at all, but everyone has their own likes, dislikes, what they think is important as opposed to others and their own opinions.

thats what this thread turned out to be......a big group of opinions.
no, not necessarily, that analogy is subjective as fans of rap in the 21st century and fans of the Beatles in the 20th century are different minds. today everyone is worried about material possessions and the next thing MTV tells them they NEED, back then music was about love and happiness today music is about kill, steal, **** over, dump and buy buy buy. but in the grand scheme of things...does any of it really matter? its all just money schemes put out by talent managers to bleed you of the money you work so hard to collect. also then people were doing acid and other psychedelics that made them realize how meaningless the entertainment industry is and were very govt concerned like john lennon, those were smarter times. people of today are in too deep and blinded by flashhy signs and the newest gear.

and on another note, money is also a SCAM. money is just green paper. its worthless.
everyone's soo worried about money. that's why i envy the amish.

see "Zeitgeist" the movie. its only the tip of the iceberg, but ull get a taste of
how everything youve been told by the TV and shool text books is a LIE and
all its meant to do is get you to work work work and buy buy buy shit you really
dont need.

and so the govt can enact shit like the patriot act, while your busy buying the
latest and greatest ipod. which is trickle fed technology to bleed you of every
possible dollar.

rant over. i shall now keep my ideals and opinions to myself. but were all guilty
of meaningless purchasing, i mean we don't need s2000's but their nice to have
its what we've been told is a luxury but really its a social status symbol but i don't
give a crap what people think. i bought cause i like. like hamptons soccer mom with her Cayenne Porsche suv.

just like 99% of everything on TV. its just another way to enslave you in the system.

it is all opinions and we can argue until we are blue in the face. if you like pop culture so be it, if you like sports so be it, if you wanna sit at home and watch paint dry with your thumb in your mouth all the more power to you. i dont see this arguement going much further but ill leave the thread open for now

Why would you not keep it open. Its the playground and we are all into the discussion.

In any case, it appears there are various age groups chimming in and yeah some of the younger generation cares what Kanye West did.... what can I do about it.. the following ...

I have a 15 year old son
He doesnt have a myspace, facebook, twitter page. Instead I insist he calls and hangs out with his friends in person. I also do the same.

He is not allowed to watch mindless garbage like MTV. He watches history channel, discovery channel and the likes of VH1 with the occasional cartoon. Oh and of course Sci-Fi and anything with substance. I also do the same.

I do not contribute to purchasing or viewing anything MTV'ish
To quote some hip hop from the times when MTV WAS music television ..

You might wanna ask yourself why the entire culture is utterly saturated with mass media entertainment from all sides while the educational system in America continues its stupefying downwards slide since the US Government decided to take over and subsidize the public school system. What your government pays for, it gets. When we understand that, then we look at government financed institutions of education and see the kind of students and the kind of education that

62 million Americans and less than 3% read books less than 15% read newspapers. Because the only truth you know is what you get over this tube. Right now, there is a whole and entire generation that never knew anything that didn

Thanks bro, its not easy raising a child with all of todays loud in your face media BS. His grades and honors reflect it all. I think alot of the problems start from home and its not that we should dictate what our kids should do but we do need to guide them

But hey the world needs idiots like Kanye West .. otherwise we would all be the same Its a shame that such a talented man is making such big mistakes. Even though his music is pretty much all sampled, it does take skill and a certain mental capacity to compose it all. AND, this isnt the first time he vents out at the VMA's. Didnt he get reall mad and pissy for not winning video of the year once ..? ah who cares hes a big cry baby anyway.

Katchup, you almost made me want to smash my TV to bits! but I cant do that to my sexy HD tv .. the best way to watch Discovery channel is in HD!!! LOL Not to mention great films like Blade Runner, Aliens and so on and so on ..

You know whats funny, I was watching Robo cop the other day... couldnt find anything else on and what a cheesy movie but the whole Robocop series talks about the huge corporate take over of society and the crushing of the lower class..... maybe I was just reading to far into it lmao
