When I was but a wee child I was caught shoplifting on a naval base. Between my dad and the MP's I was scared s%$tless. I've never thought about stealing again.
The MP's drove me in the cop car to the jailhouse, called my dad (who was none to happy), read me rights, etc... It was not a pleasant experience. Then of course my dad put a boot into my arse when we got home just to make sure the point stuck real good.
It did!

Freaking priceless.... I need to remember this method next time I see kids screwing around near my car!
When I was about 20 and had my first Integra, my little brother and some of the other kids in the neighborhood had squared off into a little turf war, and some kids from "the other side" thought it would be cool to stand in the street and throw rocks at my car. I wasn't going to put up with it, so I called the cops, who came out and took a report. The kids' parents were even being shitty about it, taking no responsibility and holding their kids completely blameless, so to make a point, I took them to court for the chips in the paint.
In the end and not to my surprise, I didn't get any cash out of them, but the kids and their parents got community service and were ordered to stay away from me, my car, and my house, which meant that even though their little middle school turf thing was resolved, they couldn't come to my door to ask my brother to come out and play! They didn't mess with me anymore...
