Police departments have rules regarding the use of tasers. They can't use them unless very specific cirumstances are present. I guarantee the cop broke his own department's rules. I guarantee there will be a lawsuit. I guarantee there will be a settlement.
Sheeeeeet since when? They will fire of a tazer just because they think its funny to watch an old lady convulse.

tazers are an excuse for cops to be out of shape now. ha i work at a bar and when there is a fight always 250-300 lb cop is the first there. ha and its a nice area too
Which is exactly what you want in a bar fight, a big, beefy guy. Not some 150lb marathon-running weakling.

A buddy of mine in the Navy was a little twig, ran ultramarathons, etc. Always gave me shit for being fat (not fat, really, just big, with a little beer belly.) Anyways, every Friday and Saturday night we'd go to the bar, he'd be a jackass (that's how he was) and hit on some chick in front of her bf or whatever, and then run to his "fat" friend, me, to stand up for him in a fight. And then Monday would roll around, and he'd go back to making fun of me. Didn't end until I stood back and let him get his ass beat one time.

Anyways, I'm with the cop on this one. Little shit had it coming. And if he had gotten tackled, it would've been even worse.

I seriously don't understand what the uproar is about (maybe not here, but read some of the comments on other sites).

The pimply faced ruffian caused a temporary disruption that was not life-threatening or serious, with laughable results and no permanent damage.

Sounds about the right use of force to me.

Cops who get trained to use the Taser have to get Tasered themselves before they can use it. Cops have died in that training. It isn't a riskless situation.

Um, can you support that with some kind of reference or fact? Not to be a dick, but do you really think the police are subjecting their trainees to something that is extremely possibly going to kill them?

I find this very hard to believe. Not that police are tasered or stun-gunned in training, but that cops are dying during it.

I'm not trying to defend the kid, I just think the cop got all pumped up on adrenaline and over-reacted.
