The 2 Pilots...WTF were they doing?

Most pilots do stuff like this...only thing is you don't usually know about it. Ignorance is bliss
Afaik most planes can fly and land themselves. How the plane got off course and what the pilots were doing in the cabin, who knows, but they're both effectively fired. You don't make a mistake like this and keep your job.

no they don't but yes they are "distracted" (though that might not be the word I would use) a lot of the time.
Of course, when you miss a deadline 'cause you're posting in OT, I'd expect to be fired.
There sure seems to be quite a bit of pilot bashing, inane grade school age comments on this forum. I'm not going to try to surmise why, but like most things like this, it can usually be traced back to insecurity, a feeling of inadequacy, or just plain immaturity. Are some of you guys sure you're old enough to drive? Have you ever flown?? If so, I would challenge you to make one of these comments the next to you board, directly to the pilots.
OK, the pilots made an error. They're human. Humans tend to do that. Have any of you pilot bashers ever made an error?
I'm not going to attempt to defend the pilots. They made a mistake. They were given revocations, so their error has indeed been punished. And please don't start with the old "yeah, but... but they have control of an AIRPLANE!!!" I also seem to recall the story of a certain pilot that saved the lives of every passenger on board by landing with no power in the Hudson River - an event never before accomplished in the history of aviation. Woops - must have forgotten that one, huh?
Perhaps a few of you brave people could share what your field of expertise is, and call out a few of your work related errors you've made in your careers. Who's first?
