Default airborne express left my $1K camera...

i came home to find the $1000 DSLR i ordered online sitting on the doorstep. don't these guys require a signature when they deliver packages, especially ones that are worth some decent amount of money?? someone could had just walked by and swiped the package that's probably been sitting there all afternoon. i'm excited for having received my new toy, but i'm pissed at the fact that it was just sitting there for anyone to take!!

Yeah those cowboys just dump and run. I was out of town for 3 days when a package was delivered, figured they would drop it off at the apartment office just like everyone else, but no! Came home, found the box, miraculously still on my doorstep. I try to avoid airborne express now.

i think i just found my new scheme: follow the airborne express trucks around and swipe any packages they leave on people's doorsteps...

Unless the person you ordered from paid for a "signature required" its up to the of the drivers judgement to leave it in what they feel is a "secure" place. Actually non-delivery claims are very low versus the cost of the driver having to go back to your home / apt. for delivery.

i understand that. the shipment was from dell. in the past when i purchased a laptop from dell, then sent it via UPS and required a sig. this time they used airborne express and to my surprise they just left the package in front of my door, in plain site of everyone passing by. if the product was worth $10, i wouldn't care if it sat there for weeks, but given that the item in the package was worth $1000, i felt uneasy about the fact that the package could had been swiped, and there would had been absolutely nothing i could had done about it, cuz as far as dell is concerned, the product had been shipped and delivered, and for airborne express, they had done their job by physically placing the package at my address. i guess i was being naive in thinking that all expensive packages will require a sig, and obviously i was wrong. in the future i will be more careful in selecting the shipping carrier to use. in fact i would been more satisfied if they had just left a notice asking me to pick up the package myself at their warehouse. most people work 9-5 and that is usually around the time they deliver their packages, so obviously there is a great chance that noone will be home to intercept the package.

This is the sender's fualt. First, they didn't pay for a signature required, as mns2k stated. And, it sounds like they didn't pay to insure the package for $1000, or the driver would have recognized that and probably left you a message.

I have never used Airborne Express, but I would personally be more upset at Dell than AE.

So tell Dell that you never got it. I bet they won't make that mistake too many times

I hate signature required. IT's so hard to be home when they deliver. I've never had a delivery not found that was left for me.
