did you give them permission to search your car? Are you filing a report? I hope to god these bastards get reported.

JRM, what's your analysis?

My friend carries a personal voice recorder in his car. Every time he gets pulled over he hits record and placed the recorder on the dash. it's not a crime to record a conversation when both parties are aware that they are being recorded.

I think I am going to invest in a recorder myself.

First I want JRM's take on this

Cops I believe sometimes need something to do.
Crime down, make a crime happen

j/k - However we do have laws for a reason

From what you wrote it does sound that he was a bit aggressive in his actions towards you.

I just watched fear and loathing in las vegas ... maybe they were right about cops...would explain why your friend was treated better. In my experience, bored cops are dangerous, and for some reason CA ones seem to be bored and aggressive all the time.

Perhaps as a society we need to look at ways to help cops deal with their anger better (require therapy?). (And trust me, dealing with the kind of people that cops usually deal with will make you angry.)

well, the problem was by the time I found out the bright light was the police, they wouldn't let me near my car (understandable).
