Android Phone
I had one for 2 weeks.
Android 2.0 is awesome but the handset itself felt crappy to me. The physical keyboard sucked something awful. Loved the OS, hated the handset.
Went back within my 30 day return window and got the HTC Eris. So much happier with that handset and the Sense UI is awesome! The only thing I don't like is its still running 1.5 and the battery life out of the box is horrible, you really have to turn stuff off to make it last a full day.
I got in before the new $350 ETF went into effect. Waiting for the new HTC Dragon or Passion or whatever it will be called. Supposed to come with a 1ghz Snapdragon processor.
All will be moot anyway when the iPhone comes to verizon summer of 2010 in a new version.

Android is awesome. the hardware TODAY that runs it is not. BUT very shortly 1Ghz processors on some phones with plenty of ram so my favorite HTC sense UI will work nice and smooth. I have a MT3G right now and installed a sense ROM on it but it is slow, like installing mac os x on a g4 computer but the next few months will be awesome for android. if you want an android phone i'd say wait just a little longer.
iphone is good stuff but just plain boring as far as the UI goes. Android has people who make custom UI my favorite being HTC sense for now and your phone can be customized like crazy all while having access to google services that you would normally pay for via apple and iphone like contacts(online that is) calendar and whatever else they include in their mobile me, all FREE on adroid. plus now google just hurt the gps world by releasing their new maps with turn by turn which wont be going to apple since the two companies have a small feud going right now. also adobe will be making a flash player (HTC hero already has a Flash Lite) for all phones but the iphone(because not open source) so... you make the choice iphone: good phone, lots of hype, lots of fanboys or Android: just a better experience and a growing platform that will surpass apple very shortly once people realize its power.
here are 2 of the snapdragon processor phones that i am waiting for:

actually palm web os is dope too, as well as maemo 5 (that N900 is siiiick), and love it or hate it winmo but winmo 7 is supposed to rival the best os's when it comes out but you'll have to wait and see.
if any of you have seen the htc hd2 that thing is a friggin beast of a phone! iphone fell to like the 5th phone i would buy.
1. HTC Dragon/Google phone - available shortly / Xperia X10 is too far out.
2. HTC Hero
3. Nokia N900
4. Droid even with the crappy hardware keyboard i'd replace it with a good software keyboard
5. iphone

I have Tmobile so i just bought the Motorola Cliq. The only other good option there was the HTC My Touch Pro 2, but that thing costs like $350 and up. I ended up returned my Cliq after 2 days because 75% of the time no one could hear me when i called them. They said i sounded like if i were talking through a pillow sheet. I got another Cliq and
that problem has only happened once so far. Its a pretty cool phone only a few complaints:
1) The space bar on the keyboard needs to be bigger, its a pain to punch it.
2) The battery life could be better, must charge every night.

The HTC Touch Pro 2 is garbage. Stay away from it.

apart from the key things that it has over the iphone, like native multitasking capability and not being on AT&T (which is terrible in manhattan of all places).. android offers things that aren't available on the iphone yet like google navigation (free turn by turn gps w/voice search) and a new program called google goggles.
if you're too lazy to google that, google goggles is a new way to search things.. basically, you take a picture of something instead of typing in any words, and google will try to search it for you. still is far from perfect, but very cool IMO.
if you already use gmail and other google services, android to me is a no brainer.. open source development on android FTW.
one thing I will give the iphone is that it has much better games, but I'd rather play MW2 on xbox instead.
