one thing I will give the iphone is that it has much better games, but I'd rather play MW2 on xbox instead.

Android is awesome. the hardware TODAY that runs it is not.
i HAD moto Cliq for 2 days and returned it. i was getting so frustrated with that phone i went back to iphone. My moto Cliq that i had came with a dead pixel and it wasn't registering my touches well. i tried to type "D" but it would register as "E" (on touchscreen). and phone felt very cheap quality. i have had iphone since day 1 and so far i havn't been able to find a replacement yet. i also love having 32 gig of space on my iphone.
every time i see droid "iDont.. droid does" commercial i always say iDontcare.
ya, i dont think android will take over the world until version 3.x or 4.x but they do update pretty regularly. but by that revision it should be a slim os that runs smooth on various devices and should be more of a name brand than it is now. i think the current iteration of android right now is for the hardcore xda dev type people and tech junkies in general. it won't capture my mom or john the waiter or the average joe possibly for another year.
a co-worker of mine just picked up the HTC hero, and it is REALLY cool. as a iphone owner myself, i see how far other phones have came since the release of the iphone, but im going to see if apple/at&t changes it up.
I will put $ on Verizon not having the iPhone. Ever. If it does get it, its all over for AT&T. Nobody will have any reason to stay on America's #2 (and a distant #2 at that) wireless network. AT&T would be totally retarded if they decided not to give Steve Jobs a BJ for the iPhone exclusivity again. If the iPhone EVER comes to VZW, it will be when we migrate the bulk of our network over to LTE.
If anybody is looking for a good company to invest in, the company (I forget the name) that is doing all the LTE network upgrades for all the carriers is a good move IMO.

as much as i hate to say it i can't switch from at&t down here no one else really has service, well except for nextel/sprint
i tried verizon, with little results, i looked into the droid as one of my christmas presents (my contract with at&t is up in january) in my opinion its so mush better than the iphone, but hell i don't need an iphone, all i need is a phone with a qwerty keyboard and something that makes call thats it

If you're on AT&T with an iPhone, other smartphone, whatever, you can talk while doing things like getting directions, looking up web info, etc, but you can't do that on Verizon's current network. You have to hang up and use the data network, then call your friend back and go from memory.
Not sure if LTE will address this or not, but even if your Verizon smart phone can have multiple apps open all at once, they basically become useless once you take a phone call.

Nexus One is coming (what was previously called the Passion), although right now the rumor is GSM networks only (ATT, T-Mobile). I want one on VZW!!!
OTA Droid update to 2.0.1 definitely helped the phone. Biggest plus is smoother home screen performance.
