Any cops in here? I have a license question
The Federal Government mandates that every state (and DC) check the National Driver Register before giving someone a driver's license. So, you are pretty much SOL from what I understand when it comes to getting a license from another state.
I've heard rumors that a couple of states (New York and Georgia) don't check the NDR before giving out licenses, but I doubt it is true. Even if you were to try, you would need tons of crap, (Rent/utility bills in your name with an address in that state) to prove that you do live in that state, etc before they will give you a license.
Your best bet is to lawyer up and see if the lawyer can get the charges reduced and get your license back. If you cannot do that, most states have a provisional driver's licence that you can apply for if yours is suspended the provisional license allows you to drive to and from work and school. So I would look into that as well as giving a lawyer a call.

That is true. Wow that sucks..I couldnt stand looking at my s2000 until February and not driving it.
Pay off your ticket immediately. If all else fails, request a hearing for a "restricted" license which will grant you driving privileges to and from school or work.

Umm the system that they use to run your DL is national so your idea wouldn't work. If you got pulled over your going to get your car towed and off to jail you go. I agree with everybody else and get an attorney.
Well a suspended license is a suspended license and since nearly all states participate in the DLC (Drivers License Compact) your license will be considered suspended until you pay all the fines, penalties and interest associated.
If pullled over, your car would most definitely be towed and impounded and you would most likely head straight to jail.
You can pay to get it back, you just have to jump through all the hoops, remember, the system is about money and not safety... you fork over the cash and they will happily reinstate it.
