Any watch collectors here?

I can get 27% off on all Rolexes except the Daytona's and Explorer 1's.
or would it depend on the model?
our 10th is coming up and would love to get something a little more "classy" (i.e. gold-based) for the missus.
I have the Tag Heuer Monaco Re-issue (without the TAG on the face)
Omega Seamaster- my daily.
My father was waiting on a two-tone Sub and the jewler called and said he had something he might like- A SS white face Daytona. My father purchased for list at the time (1995?) I think it was $4300. I wore it for a year and was affraid I would get jacked for it.
Couple of observations from the thread-
Rolex Subs do not have a Helium release valve- it is the Sea Dweller.
Even the most accurate automatic will lose 2-3 seconds a month, even the cheapest quartz will lose the same 2-3 seconds every year!
It cost about $4 to certify a watch movement with the Swiss gov't.
Patek Phillipe are not certified- they all have the Geneva Seal which is much more difficult to obtain.

I've got a buddy who should post his collection here. . . (I'm most jealous of his two IWC's). . .
but he's jealous of my one 'nice' watch.
An Omega Seamaster. . . from '68
I'm new to this too, so, for Omegas, you just have to return them to an Omega dealer to get repaired?
the '68 Seamaster was my late gramps, and the watch just recently died on me. It was his daily watch, and I'd love to keep it running.

Hmmmm, interesting.
I've always thought of Rolex as too cliche, too overdone, everyone has one, not desirable to those "in the know", etc. Previously, I had never even given Rolex a 2nd look. But, my friend and I were talking about watches the other day, and the Daytona came up as a highly desirable watch. I remembered all the similar talk of the Daytona in this thread. So, based on this thread, and the conversation with my friend, I surfed around the web for some more information on the Daytona. I had no idea that any Rolex was in this kind of demand.
It's definitely a clean looking piece, and very my style (brand aside). I just had never seen one before, and didn't know what it looked like.
The dealer I buy most of my watches from gave me 35-40% off list price on the 2 Breitlings and the AP that I've bought from them. Next time I have a chance to visit, I'm gonna see if they have a SS Daytona, and if so, what they'll let it go for.
So, looks like the next one may just be a Daytona, instead of the IWC I had originally planned to look at.
