Anybody know anything about SD cards?

So I just got this 8GB SDHC card for my blackberry and I can't format that thing at all. Not on my home computer, not on my work computer, not in my blackberry, not in my camera. I'm at a loss.

Anybody know?

I have a blackberry 8330 with 4.5 OS...

Do the devices recognize that the SDHC card is present at all?
SD cards have a "lock" switch on their side that can be used to prevent writing to them.
