[QUOTE=JoeyBalls,Dec 19 2008, 04:02 AM] Well, I got my Private License when I was 17, soloed at 16 but I didnt start to really pursue it until I was 23, thats when I started my "Commercial training" you could knock out your Private & Instrument in about a year.

Once I got Commercial at the age of 23 from there it took me about 2 years to get my first airline job.

Cool, cuz I would like to still get a degree just as a fall back or safety net. what about work? working part time at all before you landed the first job? Like if I started this next summer how much will my life change? I want to be able to work at least a little bit and still continue to go to school if possible.

I know she is, but nah just a pic I took from the 2009 super street calendar

PS thanks for the info Jamison1987

yeah I was going to school full-time while I was Instructing. Do it at your own pace I fly with guys that starting flying when they where 40, and they still have 20 years left when they get hired at an airline.

They recently adjusted the mandatory retirement age from 60 to 65 and because of that and the economy airlines have been furloughing and pulling back flying. At the same time a lot of people are straying away from the career because of the difficulty and military guys usually stay in the military. So what is going to happen is hopefully somewhere around 2012 there is GOING TO BE A LARGE PILOT SHORTAGE.
