yea, with the exception of the bus being a pressurized metal can at 37,000 feet doing 600mph over the ground, years of training we go through, the knowledge we must posses to do our job day in and day out safely, the fact we could lose or license, or career for that matter for one violation, take a checkride every 6 months, get a medical every 6 months, but yea just like bus drivers

yes - the knowledge, respect, and pay are on a higher level. But the actual job, day to day, once one posses the training and whatnot, is very comparable to that of a bus driver (in the air).

The bus driver probably takes on more risk.

When I signed up for lessons, they said I had to bring my passport, as proof of citizenship. I mentioned 9/11 and he said, "Let me guess, you don't need to learn how to land".

I was already thinking it, but I wasn't sure what jokes were okay (kinda like at an airport and joking about bombs).

We are in the transportation business................yes, but until YOU PERSONALLY land an airplane in less then 1/4 mile visibility, with a ceiling of 200ft with the wind gusting to 50kts up in St. Johns Newfoundland and no more fuel to go elsewhere, then you can come talk to me about risk
