Anyone a doctor? I need peace of mind...
Alright I will make this short. I'm really shaken up right now, a girl that I'm really close to just went through a 3 hour surgery to remove 2 cancerous tumors.
After the surgery she was still knocked out and shortly after she stopped breathing...
Does anyone know if this is "normal" for a longer surgery due to the anestesia? I found out through her brother but I have not recieved any updates since...
I can't find any info on the web about this and hospitals wont give me the info either...
Anyone???

3 hour surgery is not a long surgery.
If she's young and light, the "standard" doses of narcotics for anesthesia can depress the respiratory drive (which is part of the point of the medication at higher doses).
Don't read too much into that.
I'll let S2000raj chime in more, since he's an Anesthesiologist.

Good that she called you. It's not usual, but it's not that unusual. Exactly like Ckit said, not knowing anything about the case it could have been narcotic, residual anesthetic, or other residual drug and is not a big deal at all as that it would have had no long term effect.
That's my assumption from the little information presented here.
