Anyone has experience with V8 4Runners?

I hate electronic transfer cases. The only potential benefit I can see is that it could be limited to only function when safe to do so, whereas a doofus could manually engage (or try to) 4wd at highway speeds because they are, well, a doofus.

There were some vacuum switches on my buddy's Jimmy that would fail all the time. That damn truck had some real issues.

The V8's are full time AWD, you have no choice, but otherwise, I get what he's saying.

Having owned an X5 as well, if I had the choice, even if money wasn't an issue, I'd get a Toyota over the BMW. I really hated my X5

It was IMO, the best looking truck on the road though

I have an 05 V8 and love it. Plenty of torque to get the thing moving. Like people have said couple annoying rattles here and there but nothing major to complain about. Does eat a lot of gas when you are on the gas all the time. However when I was commuting on the highway I was able to get 22 mpg.

Mine has the sulfur smell issue when I jump on the throttle which I believe they have a TSB for but havent had a chance to take it in.

Works like a champ whenever I take it up to tahoe. Haven't had the balls to take it off-roading yet..........

Mine is the sport edition which offers bigger brakes and xreas both of which I feel are vital and worth the extra money

How about a used GX 470? Should find one for about the same price as a new 4 Runner. I thought they were great trucks and it has full time 4wd. Only problem is they aren't much bigger inside than a RX350 and gas mileage is pretty poor.

I have an 06 V8 Limited. I love it. I haven't had any problems at all. Gas mileage is decent for a V8 SUV.

i work for toyota. the v8's are great! they don't get significantly lower mpg than the v6's anyways. i have multiple friends that have v8 4 runners (including my brother and sister in law) and it's just one of those no problems, just maintenance vehicles. you can't go wrong

After driving my current 2006 C230, I want to jump ship to a japanese daily driver for a while. The MB just have tons of problems. I am swaying towards a used 2006 4Runner V8 Limited. I just love leather too much not to have it! I will probably keep it stock for a while and then do an OME Lift on it. It's going to be badass. It will be the first SUV/Truck I will own!

Now the hard part is finding one in the right price range!
