Asian fruits?!!
I'm up for trying just about anything...but unless one knows someone that really knows the fruit, how to prepare/eat them, and what kinds are better than others are not intuitively obvious.
I never would have guessed that the large, colorful mangoes are not as prized as the smaller, yellow, "Champagne" mangoes.
Bottom line, having Asian friends is a wonderful thing

<-- A typical Mid-West Cracker
Growing up as a Mid-West Cracker deprived me of all the wonders the tropics had to offer. Grapes, strawberries, apples, naval oranges, pears, peaches, and the long lasting banana were the fruits I grew up with.
I spent some time in Asia during my long stint in the Navy. We would on-load some of those tropical Asian fruits whenever we pulled in for replenishment. At first we were like, WTF? After the fist bite we were like, Tasty, Tasty, Tasty. Give us MORE!

I know, I like durian too; I don't love it, but I just like it. I love other fruits more. But anyway, I think durian smells good, personally. And it is an acquired taste, and smell.
The U.S. needs to import some tropical fruits here. Canada has lots of them.
