Default is it "bear" or "bare"?

i keep reading people saying "please bare with me..."

now i know all of us have brotherly love for each other (you don't have to be from philly), but i really don't want to bare myself to you, i can only bare myself to my wife - so please bear with me when i cannot bare myself with you...

(it's a light joke, please)

Please bear in mind that the bare naked lady that you barely know over there in the corner sitting on the bear skin rug is unbearably beautiful and has lost her bearings and is waiting for someone to get her a drink from the bar. Barring a castastrophy like slipping on those ball bearings, you might even get a date.
