"Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's..."

As far as the Beatles go you need to look at their entire collection and what they accomplished in 7 years in the spotlight.

They had an awesome chorus:
"Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's...Girl you know it's..."

Gonna practice their moves at LA Fitness tomorrow...
Wow, way to miss the point you guys. I don't like the beatles that much either, they're from a different generation anyway. Right now there's a full degree of separation in the generations for the first time in histoory (the 60s and 70s babies are adults). I don't particularly like their stuff either, none of them were beyond averagely talented, except Paul McCartney and John Lennon, and that was only the song writing aspect, both their voices were weak, and McCartney plays an average guitar...
BUT... They were directly responsible for changing the face of popular music, AND THE MINDS OF A GENERATION. You could say that if they hadn't done it, someone else would have, sure, but they were the first, and who knows how the world would have turned out if the influential message at the time was not peace, love and liberty. The music styles and genres you all like now, were made possible by the beatles when they changed the way music was produced and performed.
For that, they get my utmost respect. I do not agree they are overrated, I think they deserve the status that they have, no more, no less; the instigators of a legendary and important point of history for the entire planet, not just music.
My 2c.
BTW Zeppelin...awesome.

I am a fairly big Beatles nerd. However, yes, it's entirely contextual. Go listen to Revolver, The White Album, and Abbey Road and compare it to anything else of the time. Brian Wilson got close, then went crazy. . .
For being mostly crappy guitar players (McCartney was probably the best of the bunch, and he mostly played bass. . . ), to have found "Meet The Beatles" to be listed in the Top 100 Guitar Albums of All Time (Guitar Magazine a few years back) is a serious statement to the impact of their sound. The shit was LOUD. . . for 1964.
All the hoopla aside, The Beatles success and lasting impact would not have happened except for George Martin and Neil Aspinall, who, frankly, have way bigger reach into what you're listening to now than The Fab Four.
Oh yeah, and Led Zep are the most flagrant music thieves of all time. . .
There, I said it.

If you're going to complain, at least get your facts straight.
Twist and Shout was written by Bert Berns under the pseudonym Medley/Russell; the Beatles merely covered it.

If you like bands and not singers. . . you better kiss The Beatles' ass right now.

I'm no music guru, but I don't think you can call any band overrated when their music still resonates even with some of today's generation pretty much 40 years after the band disbanded.
Obviously not everyone is going to be a fan, but just because some folks don't like them doesn't make them overrated.

Overrated? Probably. But their music still holds up much better than 90% of the crap being produced today.
Today's music sucks man especially rap music. For example I will say a phrase with just two words and I bet it will be a hit in a year or two.
<<<<<<<<<Clap On>>>>>>>>>>>>
Now watch someone make a hook out of that! It is sad really, I should be a writer.
