I see it pretty often in the ER. We typically give steroids, anti-viral, eye drops and suggest pt tape their eye shut during night after applying eye drops to moisten.

When I was in Ranger Survival School-POW Simulation at Fort Benning, GA, we got electrical shocks to the head. The insuructor screwed up the voltage on my buddy and he had Bell's Palsy for six months. The whole left side of his face was pretty much paralyzed. He eventually got over it completely.

My wife has Multiple Scelerosis and she does on occasion get bouts of Bell's Palsy from it. Especially during the summer when it is extremely hot and she has to be outside for a period of time.

prednisone can make you wacky. some people go a little nutso when they are on it. My mom had to take it for a spell and she acted like another person entirely while on it.

I've taken Prednisone twice for terminal itching. It worked great. I had no side effects.

Curious...why in the hell would they need to do that? I understand its to simulate torture, but you have to figure....if you get captured the shock treatment by the enemy will be 10000000x worse than a simulation, kind of making it a moot point. I think being tazered to the body would have been safer, rather than getting electroshock treatment to the head. That is a disaster waiting to happen. Glad your buddy is ok now.

I did some research on it when I first got my car. I was told its sometimes called the "convertable car disease" b/c if you have your top down a lot and its really cold outside, it can be a cause. (Not Proven).

Also, I read it can be caused by stress. (Also Not Proven).

I'm not a high stress person, but I am top always down... but I live in Alabama, so our Winters are mild at best...
