Hey,

For those of you who have never seen Ronin before, it's showing on the TBS Superstation tonight (Saturday, Jan 10th). Looks like at 11:30 PM ET/PT? Check your local listings though.

A couple of things here:

1) Bullitt is so staged at times its untrue. Next time u watch it just look out for all the green VW beetles. They literally moved all the parked cars from one area to another and the green VW stands out a mile.

2) The Italian job has to win it for me, but only the Michael Caine version. No CG, about 30 normal road going Mini Coopers were used in total and the sheer cheek of it is fantastic.

3) Ronin for a speed chase has to also reign supreme cos the director told the actors (who did the majority of the driving) things like "Just rip down that street as fast as you can and I don't want to see any brake lights, if I do we re-shoot the scene".

I had Ronin in my mind before I even opened the thread. No question.

The best part of the chase was when they were in the tunnel and the black bimmer just passed through and DeNiro in his Peugeot swerved and baaaaarely missed the overturned, spinning police car.

Good stuff!

what?? Audi S8....hello!!!!

by the way, someone mentioned that it was cool that the actors were the ones doing the driving......

NOT TRUE....if you watch the DVD with the commentary turned on, they actually had the F1 driver driving, with a mock-up driver's side built on the passenger side of the car, where the actors would "fake" drive.

my vote still goes with Ronin though, regardless who was driving, it still kicked

Yeah I had RONIN in mind when I opened thread. BTW, it was on last night on TBS hmmm or was it friday night. I remember watching it when it came out not even knowing what it was about. Then I was jaw-dropped when I saw those scenes.
