Yea, it was crazy....! I didn't hear them, but I talked to a friend of mine about an hour after she heard them. She said her whole neighborhood was scrambling around and people were running out of their houses, children in arms, to find out what was going going on. She said it sounded like bombs...and everyone just about pooped right there on the spot.
They never saw the jets that caused the sonic booms, so they really didn't know what was going on. They were really freaked out...
My client is in the NW burbs, where they took place, I guess this building is a little more sound proof than we thought!
Turns out they were two fighter jets escorting a passenger plane cuz some guy freaked out and was subdued by about 6 other passengers. The guy apparently hadn't taken some medication...
Crazy stuff!

Sonic Booms are cool! Of course under the circumstances of the last month, I can see how it might scare people. The 2 booms I've been through could easily be mistaken for a bomb - the more recent one (from an SR-71 giving Oshkosh a farewell "salute") shook my entire building for a solid second. And this from a plane at 70000 feet!
A Navy jet broke the sound barrier off the Outer Banks of North Carolina when I lived in Virginia Beach, and the blast reached us, 80 miles away, still loud enough to shake pictures on the walls and make residents think a bomb had exploded. It was about 8 am, and it woke me from a dead sleep! (I was in college back then) Closer to the source, boat windows and the windows of people's homes shattered, and commercial fisherman complained of ringing in their ears for a good week.
Seriously cool stuff!
