Body building might not be in your genetics either buddy and it could be hindering your ability to gain muscle. When I was 19, I was 6', 160lbs and in a matter of 16 weeks of eating 5000 calories a day properly and lifting heavy I was at 180lbs. This was in 2002. Now I'm 6' 202lbs and it takes work to just maintain and stay on a regimen to trick the muscles.
I never really lifted weights i would always do push ups and dips and sit ups and then i stopped i use to lift in high school my max for bench pressing was 145 and my max with squat was 220 and is it possible of getting skinny from lifting?

i did the same thing as you and ate constantly, a lot of subway tuna footlongs with everything on it among other foods that were even less healthy. while i did gain weight and some muscle i also gained some fat. now im doing it right and taking whey while also trying to eat healthier.
If your body is reluctant to gain weight, I find the only thing that helps is whey protein/weight gainers. Drink a couple glasses a day and work out; you'd gain weight very quickly. But in order to maintain such weight gain, you'd have to maintain that regimen.
I'm a shade over 5'11" and 185lbs, with about 6% body fat. Been working out since like forever (since the wrestling days in high school). I'm usually one of the strongest guys at the local gyms.
