Boxster S is a great car. The interior is much nicer then the S2000 and the engine is much more flexible. I have been a Porsche fanatic since I was little, with that said...I own an S2K. Money is always a consideration unless you are Bill Gates. Once you start talking 50k+ you are looking at M3, 2002 Z06 (the other car i almost bought....hmmm...i want one!), with a few options you are in 911 territory. For me in the 30k price range the S2k shines. In the high 40 to 50k the Z06 shines.
People buy porsches for a number of reasons, but it is the number 1 daily driver of F1 drivers...even though porsche doesn't even run in F1 anymore...so they must be doing something right. Porsche's make rad track cars. The 993 is well known for being just a few simple mods away from running away from NSX's, ferraris, just about anything (save the dodge viper and Z06). Check out nsxfiles.com if you don't believe me.

I agree with all the comments you guys make. I feel exactly the same way. If money was no object I would choose the Boxster S over the S2000 then again I might end up buying an M3.

As I mentioned. I am saving up. Since the funds I'm going to be using to buy my car aren't funds that I need to survive, I can afford to hold out and go all out. The price of the Boxsters concern me very much as I don't see it being good value but the name and prestige is worth it to many people.

As for which cars fit my character I think both fit in some way. When I am driving alone I am a Vtec guy but when I have someone else beside me I cruise more and don't rev much so the Porsche would fit me more in this case. I would look better in a Honda right now since I'm only 20. I know I shoudln't be swayed by the opinions around me but as I said my family and gf doesn't exactly like the S2000. So that's what got me thinking about the Boxster when I was all but decided on the S2000. I guess when the time comes I'll test drive both and decide but I do think it's a decision that most people who went and bought the S2000 has to make.

I was thinking about getting a boxster (consdiered the 2.5, 2.7, and s) and for the price its not worth it. Plus way to many people have porsches around here. For the price of a used 2.5 I could get an S2000 which I would much rather have. For the price of a new S fully loaded I could get the 2003 NSX which I would much much rather have. What does your money get you with any of the boxsters? Horrible performance for the price, a nice looking interior, a nice looking exterior with the $5000 body kit (it looks so tight), and you get to be part of the "porsche party club" lol. The new S+ or whatever its called should be really nice, but at what price? And by then how many nicer cars will there be for that price?

Boxster is a great car. I wouldn't mind having one.
As far as your questions goes, yes, if the cars are the same, I'd pick Honda over Porsche any day. If it was Ferrari, Lexus or even Mercedes, it would be another story.

3400RS i think it is called from Ruf...expensive, but totally sweet. shoehorned built 911 engine making 340 HP in a boxster. That is one sweet car. It is actually in GT3 also.

Honda over a porsche, but you would pick a mercedes?? for a sports car?? someone hasn't been following porsche's racing heritage!! j/k

Porsche makes some sweet, fast, reliable sports cars. 993's are well known for being beasts at the track. Porsche's absolute dominance of le Mans in the 60's 70's 80's and early 90's is well documented. With the arrival of the carrera GT expect Porsche to be back in a big way.

Ya after checking out other cars in the price range I feel the same way. Even thought the M3 is not a convertible, it's hard to justify buying the Boxster over the M3 for me. As for the 2003NSX, I doubt you can get it for the price of a fully loaded Boxster S. That's contingent on what fully loaded means of course.

You know what I wish Honda would do? I wish they will come out with more colours. Good colours.

I have to admit that I have always disliked Porsche. Not because of the people who drive them (stupid generalizations), but because I think they are all ugly. They looked like a VW bug variant. Never impressed. However, the Boxster is the first Porsche to come out that I don't think is ugly. On the other hand, seeing one does not make my heart palpitate nor my head turn. I cannot say the same about the S2000. The S2000 gave me an emotional reaction even before I ever sat in it. In the end, that is why it is sitting my garage and why I treat it like a priceless treasure.
