>>For the price of a new S fully loaded I could get the 2003 NSX >>which I would much much rather have
Of course a used NSX, or REALLY USED AND OLD NSX would come cheaper but we're talking about the 2003NSX here and that's what I want to know. It has to be significantly cheaper for a fully loaded Boxster to be at or relatively near the price of a new NSX. And when I mean fully loaded you need to put a lot of custom designed stuff on it.

I've had earlier model year porsches and love their " workability". The design of the car allowed for a quick learning curve. Then things got more sophisticated and the engine compartment became way more crowded. And then they bacically took the engine compartment away from you with the boxster. Sure maintenance is far better but I'm a hands-on type and if I can't see, I don't want it, no matter how good it is. As opposed to groping around with a flashlight, I prefer pulling that latch on the left and letting the sun shine on that Honda masterpiece. Let Porsche buyers view their Picasso with their mechanic at the local Porsche museum (aka dealership), we have instant access for all to see.
I found an article in Autoweekfrom last year most interesting. It was on the Boxster and included a survey of what owners paid. The range (all models) was from the mid-forties to over $80,000 when all options were taken into consideration. The average paid (all models) was over 52 grand. It makes the S2000 seem downright reasonable, doesn't it?
According to some guy (I forget who, I think it was a writer for a japanese car mag but I forget, I have the article around here somewhere...) who spoke to someone involved with the development of the new nsx it will be 350 - 400 HP, lighter, faster, mass produced, and around $60k. Which is much less than a fully loaded (all of porsches should-be-standard-but-arent-because-we're-cheap factory options).
>>my friend got his 1990 nsx for $16k
1990? $16k? One year too early and 10 thousand dollars too cheap. Of course the price is possible if he found a really good deal, but there were no 1990 model year nsxes.

I am buying the car for my enjoyment. With that being said, I think the S2K is a great value and I love the car. I also love the Boxster S but think it's a ripoff. The M3 on the other hand seems like a great value as well. I would be happy with any of these 3 cars.
I think of the S2K and other cars as something to share. If those I care about thinks I should get some other car I think I at least have to consider it especially when I see nothing wrong with the Boxster S and the M3 except for its price.
I don't have to make a decision now so I'm first gonna come up with the money to get the S2K then I'll decide whether to hold out for the M3.

I drove it and managed to get pulled over after driving it only a couple miles going 70 in a 35... he had no title or proof of insurance since the car was new and the cop basically said, "nice car" and let us go with a warning. I wish that happened with my car...
