Sometimes I wish I should've bought the Boxster S. At that time, I had enough cash to actually buy it. Instead I used the money to buy 2 cars: my wife's new 2001 Honda Accord EXv6 coupe and my silver 2001 Honda S2000. I had to think of the wife first. If only I wasn't married......

Go for 3:

1) S2000
2) WRX
3) Porsche Carrera S or RUF 3400S.

Ah, someday . . .

Been seeing the Boxster and S2K on the street. Boxster moving and s2K parked. Both cars get me excited.

The boxster engine sounds much different from Vtec. Has anyone cared to explain it? Vtec is more of a roar.

Well, the last time I got into a dicussion about the Boxster I got pissed off. This time I'm not. Let's look at the facts the way they are. First and most obvious, the price diffrence verses the performance return. The Boxster S and S2000 are very close in performance. The Boxster isn't. $30K in price for almost zero performance increase. Ok with that said, does the Boxster have a more Luxurious interior? Yes, I would hope so. Is it more ergonomic? No I don't think so. Boxster S requires six cylinders and turbocharging to duplicate performance of S2000. Naturally aspirated four cylinder. After being an avid reader of the Boxster Board I'd say that the reliability goes to the S2000 by a wide margin. I'm no longer a fan of so call German reliability. Cost for parts forget it, Honda all the way on this one. What I'm trying to say here is, taking in consideration all this, I've become a real fan of the S2000. If your purchase is based on emotion and prestige alone I'd say that the Boxster S is your boy. But I'm not so sure anymore that this is the case. Does the Boxster say, wow I've made it and I'm one of the few. To some, I suppose. But I don't buy a car for this. Cause wow, I don't care if your into eliteism. That's not my thing but practicality is!

Hi!

Well, I just bought an s2k on Sunday (red/black). I traded in my 1997 Boxster for it. After 4 years of ownership, what I can tell you about the base Boxster is that it costs a fortune to maintain. My car was in the shop an average of 6 times a year. Over the last 2 years (I only had a 2 year warranty and the extended warranty covered pretty much nothing that actually broke), I've spent more than $12000 in repairs and maintainence !

After my last trip to the shop for a simple 60K checkup, I'd had enough. This trip cost me a platry $2400 (You wouldn't believe the things that had to be replaced on this car!) .

My wallet, and my wife, couldn't take it any more!

So, now I have a car that may be a little less roomy to drive in, doesn't have climate control or auto-adjust volume on the stereo, but is way more fun to drive and is saving me a fortune!

Scott

Just a point of clarification... the Boxster S is not turbocharged.
