Sprint'd got some of the best rates. There coverage is great and I know people will
about their customer service but it has been outstanding lately. I know they've been working on it and it shows. Now if Palm could get their hardware issues with the Pre fixed I would be pleased as punch.

Question for the OP: If you could get the iPhone on Verizon, would you go for that instead?

$350 to break the contract
$30 for their unlimited data which is limited to 5GB actually
And $30 additionally dollars if you want to tether which is also limited to 5GB
So $60 for unlimited data which is actually limited to 10GB data LOL!!
No F'ing thank you! I love my 3GS that I have jailbroken and unlocked on the latest version which I can tether all for my actual unlimited data. Oh and also with my jailbreak I'm able to download all the paid apps for free!!
And like you I've tried multiple phones and have sold them all except the 3GS
WinMo: Tilt, Blackjack 1,2,3
Blackberry: Curve, Bold, Storm
Android: G1
iPhone: 3G, 3GS
Here's the source for Verizons ridiculous data plan!

The 5gb cap on the unlimited plan is not true. They watch your usage when you go over 5gb to determine if you were tethering, which btw att does too. The easiest way to knwo if someone is most likely tethering is if they are using more then 5 gb of data. Most people never go above 3-4 gbs.
ATT and Verizon Have the SAME DATA PLANS. Att service however SUX

the ETF of $350 drops every month by $10.
BUT, if you actually honor your contract (imagine that) you have no ETF.
an iphone was $600 unsubsidized. minus $375 = $225.
you still come out $25 ahead IF you cancel the first month. which you have a grace period anyway.
BTW, i just had a conversation with the owner of a local marketing company. 100% Mac computers. He has an iphone but says that it is merely a toy since it is unreliable as a business tool for calendar sync and emails. for business it is unacceptable to have to completely void your warranty to get your new phone to do what it needs. He loses $100/hr plus additional business every time he misses a meeting. thats alot for a small business owner. AND he doesnt get 3G where he lives.

interesting stuff. i'm actually thinking about getting the Droid myself, but have been trying to figure out what i need to do as far as data.
it seems like PCworld was more interested in shocking people than finding out facts; after a few seconds of research it looks like most of what they printed is at very least a stretch of the truth.
the reviews i've read have been generally favorable, except everyone says the camera is terrible. OP what are your thoughts on it?

i came this close to getting a droid yesterday, i love the phone itself, but the plan it comes with is a little lame:

First you do not pay more to run microsoft exhange. I run it right now without having to pay the extra $15. That $15 is if your running microsoft exchange for a business. Business users have to have that. Personal microsoft exchange accounts are not charged.
2. ATT & Verizon has the SAME internet and tethering plans. Verizon charges $30 for unlimited data on a pda. It DOES NOT cap it to 5 gb. However, when you go over 5 gb of data they check up on what you are using your data for. Because normally when your going over 5 gb your most likely tethering. Att and Verizon charge $60 in total to tether your phone. Keep in mind you still cant tether with your Iphone legally. You could tether your droid or any BB or Android phone with verizon without telling them just like ATT. Just dont blame me when you get hit with a $500 bill. I use to tether on att a lot without paying for the tethering plan and used 5-7 gb a month n never got in trouble tho so take it for what its worth.
