BTW, i just had a conversation with the owner of a local marketing company. 100% Mac computers. He has an iphone but says that it is merely a toy since it is unreliable as a business tool for calendar sync and emails. for business it is unacceptable to have to completely void your warranty to get your new phone to do what it needs. He loses $100/hr plus additional business every time he misses a meeting. thats alot for a small business owner. AND he doesnt get 3G where he lives.
this was actually the main reason i switched was because me n parents never got acceptable service with ATT.

We had tmobile first. we all had decent service. We switched to att for iphones. My mom stopped getting service in her hospital in her office. My dad couldnt get service or really broken service in his office. I would lose service driving up freaking 5th avenue in the middle of manhattan!

The main reason we left was service. ATT sux balls. The day before i switched i missed a client that would have netted me $6000 in profit! He told me later he had called me over 20 times. he had to catch a plane (he comes from puerto rico for a few days every month). So i get screwed out of a big guaranteed sale. Shit i understand i wont have service everywhere. But i never even got the voicemails he left!

the ETF of $350 drops every month by $10.
BUT, if you actually honor your contract (imagine that) you have no ETF.

an iphone was $600 unsubsidized. minus $375 = $225.

you still come out $25 ahead IF you cancel the first month. which you have a grace period anyway.
im happy they did this. and all the carriers will probably follow suit.

Most of you guys dont know the cell phoen business but Verizon is just doing what us Retailers have been doing for years. Charging your ass! lol

Think about it as a retailer (well i use to be) i get XXX amount of commission of a line now i have to buy w.e phone you want at my "cost" now my cost for newer phones is pretty high. The Droid COST price to dealers is around $530. Now I have to make something off this line so i can you know pay my employees, rent, electricity; etc. You come down to around $100 profit per line usually.

Now if i have to subsidize your phone $430, you better make sure in hell im going to make sure i get my $$. Now retailers charge $XXX if you cancel before 6 months because thats how long it takes for us to get paid our commission. If you cancel were fcked. Understand guys?

If you guys want to change services then you have to pay to play. Ive always either honored my contract or just paid the subsidized ETF.

The only time i find it to be acceptable to cancel and not pay those F**king fees if your service degrades that badly like mine did. If ATT comes after me (well the acct isnt under my name) for the $550 that it cost me to leave them, they better know they will see me in small claims court.

Now small claims court is the easiest way to get out of this. Keep logs of your phones with their missed calls, failed calls, etc. I have videos and screen shots just in case it ever went to a judge. Most of the tiem big companies dont want to pay their lawyers, who are charging $300+/hour, to go to small claims court on some bs and they just drop it.

no i text pretty quick and i turned off the vibration crap for the on screen keyboard and now its quick as before.

The hardware keyboard isnt too bad tho. then again i got used to palm keyboards so im use to crappy keyboards. The keyboard allows me to type quicker then any touch screen out there including the iphones.
