Default can cops give u ticket in private parking lot?

i got a parking ticket when parked in a hotel parking lot. this seems not right. the parking lot is private property. if the hotel wants to tow my car, that's fine, but i find it odd that the cops can give me a ticket for illegal parking. what do you think?

If they have signs up, who would the hotel call?

Ghost Busters?

A cop can give you a ticket anywhere. The real question is whether a court will enforce it. That most likely depends on municipal codes; i.e., the local laws in the town or city where you got the ticket. You'll need to do some research. I'd start by looking for signs in the parking lot; they may cite a municipal code section. The ticket should also cite the violation, listing the code section.

if the private party lets the police on the property then yes they can ticket you. i been served a misdemeanor on private property...of course found not guilty in courts
