must he always change when he flys around? Comic book fans help me out here. Also, who's faster? Superman or The Flash?

 

I don't know for sure, but Lois was once quoted as saying "It's frustrating. He can only get it up while in costume!"

 

I have seen story lines both on TV and in the comics where he does indeed fly in his civies. Superman can fly to other worlds. I've read that the Flash has gone around the world pretty fast but even if he could get into space, it would take far too long to get to another solar system at his speed whereas Superman has done it in minutes. If Flash ran that fast on the ground in the earth's atmosphere, he would theoretically destroy the earth.

The suit is not the source of his powers, thus his abilities are not affected by it.

 

OK, I can't believe I'm going to date myself by responding to this, but...

There was a large-format comic from DC comics in the mid 70's that was based on the question of whether the Flash or Superman was faster. If I remember correctly, two aliens made a wager and somehow forced Sup and Flash to run (and running only) around the earth.

It was a tie, but they arranged it that way. Both thought they could have beaten the other if they'd tried.
